Random thoughts of things taken for granted

Well I'm crunching out work today because Thursday here in the Red Zone is Friday in the US. We are off on Fridays so happy hours and parties tend to occur on Thursday nights. This is of course a very good time to reflect on what in the world is one to do tonight. Especially since you have all of 2 complete city blocks to cover day in and day out.

Keeping in mind the things that are near and dear, I envision visiting a Chipotle and having a delicious burito bowl with carnitas pork, black beans, rice, mild salsa, corn, cheese with lettuce on the top. I always have to top it off with guacamole on the side. Sterling tends to get a burito but occasionally I tell him to get the bowl so that making a mess is minimized. We share a black cheery soda over ice while consuming the yummy meal. Actually, we did that on my day of departure on July 31st.

I also think about where is the McDonalds in Baghdad? I thought they served billions daily? Oh well, there is absolutely no super-sizing here!!!!

I will be glad to enjoy social activities with random people and just walk around the block or the park or the mall or the condo.... who cares, just to be able to walk without the boundries of guards with guns and dust and stuff in the background......

On the flip side.... what would this type of life do to you if you had no means or opportunity to escape? How harden would you become and void of social skills for the simpliest of interactions.

The shot below is yet another random shot I found in a file of photos not taken be me on a hard disk. It is of Petra in Jordan.....
